The Promise – A Review and a GIVEAWAY!

The Promise is a beautiful movie. We got the movie in the mail today to review and right away after lunch chores were over, we put on the movie. It is a musical. There is a lot of singing, but not overly so. There was just the right amount of both speaking and singing parts.

It is a 45 minute film. It was “just” about the birth of Christ. One thing we had somewhat an issue for. We thought the movie should have lasted longer. However, with that said, here is the synopsis of the movie that you can find on their website.

In ancient Israel, during the days of King Herod, a young couple’s world is turned upside down when the prophecy of a long-awaited deliverer unfolds upon their lives. They must trust in God’s promise in the midst of rising challenges, and their faithfulness is rewarded as they witness the most surprising and glorious event of all human history – the promise fulfilled in the birth of the Messiah.

You can see the trailer here.

The writers did a tremendous job of writing the storyline. We went through the Book of Luke today after the movie viewing to double-check that it went through it correctly and it does. Very true to the story. Which to me, is a great thing. Too many films out there add items that are not true.
My favorite part has to be when Joseph starts to see Mary as his bride. He notices that she is no longer “little Mary”.

The music is just beautiful. Well written and goes along with the story. It also is biblically sound. My favorite song has to be Lullaby for the King and His Name is John. However, all the music is just wonderful.
My 17-year-old LOVES the movie. He says, it is so nice that it brings the truth out there about Jesus’s birth.

The animation was done wonderfully. The animators used Motion Captioning and 3-D animation. Truly great stuff. Almost like what you would see from the Major Motion Picture folks. The musical had us captivated through out each of the scenes.  The only problem my daughter had with the animation is that she though their facial features were weird. Eyes to set close to each other and very long noses.

You can find more information about the film in the following links.

Amazon  Amazon has the video now for sale and it is $14.99 with FREE shipping over $35.00. A GREAT deal for this video.

If you are looking for a safe and biblically sound video for your children, The Promise is both. It is very captivating. From my youngest in the house that is 18 months old, to my 18-year-old. We all enjoyed the film. We can not wait to see what more Glorious Films will bring out in the future.

Now, for what you have been waiting for! The Giveaway! I am giving away ONE brand-new video of The Promise! All YOU have to do is, leave a comment in the comment section telling me what you would do with the video. Will you give it as a gift or watch as a family? 1. Great giveaway! In outside the US so probably can’t enter. But I’m glad I read this review as I’m always trying to find appropriate things for my children to watch – thanks!

  2. I think this film looks amazing! We would watch it as a family this holiday season.

  3. Would love to win! We would watch it as a family and it would be nice to start a Christmas tradition of watching it every year during the month of December. Thanks for the giveaway! 🙂

  4. I would love this! It would be great to watch with the extended family over the holidays. Also, my church has joined a regional, interfaith ministry that provides housing for homeless families in the area. Each church hosts the families for a week in a rotation. It’d be great to be able to show the movie on one of the cold nights here in New England when the kids can’t play outside!

Thanks for having this giveaway! 🙂

  5. My 1 (almost 2) and 3 year old would LOVE this movie! They have really been interested in the nativity story this year as we’ve started our advent activities.

  6. So many people have blessed us this Christmas season already. This would add to the blessing. I wanted to invite our neighbors kids to our home for a movie and coco party but money is keeping us back this year. If I got this gift I would continue with our plans for a Christmas coco party and show this movie for the children to watch. Whoever will get this gift, it will touch lives I am sure. 🙂
